What does Jiriki mean?
Jiriki means “Self-power” in Japanese. Jiriki is here to help you connect with your own power. The concept of Jiriki comes from Japanese Buddhism and refers to self-power. Jiriki, as opposed to Tariki (other power), helps us to see that the only thing standing in the way of true liberation is ourselves, and if we can tap into our own strength and truth, we can use our own efforts to reach nirvana. How does it work?
You can sign up for one time only with the “One-off” Box, or select a quarterly or yearly subscription to receive a Box every 3 months. We ship your box every season and you will receive your package for each season around the 21st of December, March, June and September. You can personalise each one of your boxes by taking our little quizz. Depending on your preferences and interests, we will put together the most appropriate products for you.
What’s inside the box?
Although we don’t want to unveil too much to maintain the element of surprise, we work with top UK independent and ethical brands to create truly unique boxes to empower your everyday life and rebalance your routine.
The price you pay will always be lower than the retail value and includes direct shipping to your door (small surcharge for shipping to Europe and The US).
Who is the curator?
Please meet our founder Jane Marle. After spending 10 years working in the fashion industry, curating independent and ethical fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands, and living a hectic life, Jane realised how easy it is to get caught in the rat race and to forget to take the time to restore and reset. Inspired by the Japanese approach of creating wellbeing rituals, Jane started to incorporate small moments of calm into her routine and immediately felt the difference. Knowing the impact that these small but powerful moments had on her ability to harness her own happiness, Jane became passionate about helping others do the same, while keeping her passion for curating meaningful products and experiences, both good for the Planet, the body, mind and soul. Which makes her the perfect expert to put together the ideal genderless wellbeing Box for anyone who wants to make room for self-care and self-love.
When will my box ship?
Our shipping dates for subscriptions are mid December, March, June and September. You receive your box approximately around the 21st of those months. If you enrol more than a month before the next season, for example on February 15, you will receive your first Box within 5 to 10 working days (see Shipping). You will then receive the second box around the 21st of March, and then every 3 months.
For one-off boxes, we ship at all times of the year.
The date your package arrives can depend on DPD, Yodel and Fedex, holidays, customs clearance and your location in the world. You will be informed once your parcel is on its way, and given a tracking number.
Shipping
We in general work with Yodel, DPD and Fedex to make sure your package is delivered safely to your door, hassle-free.
Shipping is free for customers based in the UK and takes 3 to 5 working days from the shipping date (please see “When will my box be shipped?” above). For European customers, you can count on us to handle all the customs and duties fees on our end when you take any subscription boxes. You might have some customs and duties fees if you’re based in Europe and when you get the One-off Box (you will be notified by email or text message). Shipping for Europe is £15. And it takes 5 to 10 working days from the shipping date (please see “When will my box be shipped?” above).
For customers based in The US, you might have some customs and duties fees (you will be notified by email or text message). Shipping for The US is £30. And it takes 5 to 10 working days from the shipping date (please see “When will my box be shipped?” above).
Can I include a note if I’m sending a gift box?
Of course you can. We love gift giving! You can just write your personal note, in the note section at checkout and we will make sure to share it to the lucky one.
When am I billed?
You will be charged for your first box at the time of purchase. If you subscribe to our quarterly or yearly Box, you will be automatically enrolled for the next box and billed 3 months from your original sign up date. For example, if you sign up on December 3, you will be billed again on March 3. Yearly subscriptions automatically renew one year after your first payment, but you are informed before this renewal is charged, and given the opportunity to unsubscribe and cancel the programmed payment.
Can I recycle the box?
Absolutely. We live by the value that everything we do should leave the world better than we found it. The Box is 100% recyclable and you can compost it to then grow flowers out of it! (seeds are provided inside the box).
Return Policy
Because of the nature of our boxes, we are unable to offer returns. That said, we know that things happen. If a parcel does not arrive, you have 10 days to let us know. Similarly, if a parcel arrives with damaged or defective products, you have 10 days to let us know via our email rituals@houseofjiriki.com. If you sign up for the annual subscription, you have 10 days after receiving your first parcel, to cancel the annual subscription via email at rituals@houseofjiriki.com. In this last case, we will refund the total amount minus the cost of one full priced box (£138), as the discounted yearly price is contingent on subscribing for the entire year.
What if I want to cancel/change my subscription?
We are sorry to see you go. If there is any input you would like to give, or a way for us to remedy the situation, please email us at rituals@houseofjiriki.com. If you would still like to cancel and are a quarterly subscriber, login to your customer account and select “Cancel subscription”. You can cancel your subscription after the second box you receive. You must cancel your subscription at least 5 business days prior to the next billing cycle. Note that if you cancel during the first week of a ship month, you will still receive and be charged for the order that is shipping out in that window. Quarterly subscriptions that have already been paid cannot be refunded. Yearly subscriptions are non-refundable. However, if you are unsatisfied with your first box you have 10 days to let us know (see Return Policy). If you would like to change your subscription from quarterly to yearly, you can do so anytime by using your customer account, your bill will automatically get updated. You can switch from yearly to quarterly after a minimum period of 1 year.
How does it work?
Whether the Surprise is for you or for a special one, you can pick the Sun Box (which is all about UK made and ethical products to discover), the Moon Box (which is all about wellbeing experiences) or the Eclipse Box (which is a mix of the Sun and the Moon Box). The Surprise is a completely bespoke service. You can personalise each one of the boxes by taking our little quizz and adding any information you think is important for us to nail the curation. Depending on your preferences and interests, we will put together the most appropriate products and experiences for you. Finally, we will review the content with you if you wish to make sure you’re happy with it, before we send it to your special one on your behalf or to you. Ps: if the Surprise is for you, we recommend that we don’t unveil too much during the review time to maintain the element of surprise, but it is up to you of course.

How long does it take to prepare my Surprise order?
Please note that because each Surprise order is completely uniquely curated, it can take up to 2 weeks to be ready (including the review time). If you need your Surprise order to be ready before please let us know and we will try to accommodate your request. Once it is ready, we will email you to ask you to review your Surprise order, this is the moment when you can ask for one revision before we send the Surprise box to your special one or to you.
Are the experiences online or offline?
Wherever you are based, you can enjoy the experiences online from the comfort of your own home. If you are based in London and you would really prefer to enjoy the experiences offline, please let us know and we will try to arrange this for you.
