Kati Kaia x Hoj

We are so happy to have ethical wellbeing & yoga brand: Kati Kaia, which is part of our coming Summer Box! We have interviewed her lovely founder Kati.

Who are you, where are you from and where in the world are you now?

My name is Kati I was born in Hong Kong and live near Guildford, in the Surrey Hills, England.

How often do you take some “me time” and how important it is for you?

I take an element of ‘me time’ every day, whether it’s closing the office door for quiet meditation or going for a long walk to breeze through the mind. I try to do morning yoga in the garden in the warmer weather and making it to the gym allows me to blow off steam!

What are your favourite wellbeing rituals to do at home?

I have so many… I love to do yoga in the garden when the sun is just coming out, there is something peaceful about that time before the busy bees start their day, especially on the weekend. I also really enjoy a self-care evening, a cleansing shower with our essential oil blends and aromatherapy. Adding some pulse oils to my meditation rituals and connecting to the breath helps to clear a busy, busy mind! I use my mala beads most days to breathe with or repeat my mantra… until I get interrupted!

What are the benefits of your brand to a person’s wellbeing?

Our vision is to be a guiding light for all on the journey to a balanced, creative and mindful lifestyle. Building a community around all those elements of self-expression and tapping into your own truth. Reflecting the powerful source of nature to unlock the metamorphosis of creativity within us all and inspire others through the thread of art, yoga, unity and peace.

By sharing the tools, inspirations and experiences for others wellbeing we want to help ground you in this modern world. Through self-care, mindfulness and meditation practices, encourage play with your own creativity by connecting to the body, mind, and soul.

Really, it’s by creating a joyful experience for wellbeing, whether that is Yoga, Pilates, HIIT or Meditation – from the moment you lay out your mat and touch the soft surface to holding your crystal mala beads, so you too fall in love with these rituals and re-connect to your Self.

What does intuition mean to you? And do you follow your intuition often?

I have a strong intuition – by slowing down enough between ‘the busy’ to step back, quiet the mind and be open to flow and change like a river, the most amazing things happen. You must quiet enough to ask and be open to answers… which I learnt the hard way!

In my previous work as Design Lead, I hired a new team member and spoke with my boss as on paper this person was great, ticked every box, but my stomach twisted with anxiety when I thought to hire them – my gut was telling me something else, which I told her ‘I just don’t know why’…

I ignored it, as I could see no logical reason not to hire. It all ended in disaster as theft soon started from staff’s bags and the clothing assigned for order fulfilment. My boss after asking me to fire them immediately, pulled me aside, ‘you must learn to listen to your gut – it was trying to tell you something important and for that you are lucky’. I went away that day and read all about intuition. I have been in a lot of tough situations since then and know for sure, all power comes from within.
