We are so excited to have ethical science backed vitamins brand JetFuel part of our coming Spring Box! The brand has amazing tips to share with you to simplify your wellness routine!

No one needs another plate to add to those we’ve already got perilously spinning in our lives these days; we simply don’t have the time or the energy. But sometimes, trying to stick to a wellness routine can feel just like that. Where are you even going to start trying to find the time to get to a yoga class or find the space and silence you need to meditate or prep and cook nutrient-rich meals? It’s just not happening.

But we believe your wellbeing shouldn’t be an afterthought. It’s something you deserve to embrace and prioritise every day, but we realise that your busy life makes it hard.

So to help you to stop stressing about finding the time to look after yourself, today we’re sharing our 5 top tips for simplifying your wellness routine so you can get on with the business of living the healthy, happy life you deserve with little or no effort.

PUT YOURSELF FIRST FOR A CHANGE.

One of the best ways we know to simplify your wellness routine is to do the things you find most challenging to fit into your day before anyone else is awake. By setting your alarm half an hour, or even an hour earlier than the rest of the house, you can get a lot of things done that otherwise you’d be stressed about. We all need a morning routine.

Take 30 minutes before everyone’s day starts to write in your journal while sipping a cup of hot water and lemon or botanical herbal tea, to rehydrate yourself. Maybe finish off with 10 minutes of meditation or a yoga session, or even get yourself outside for a run in daylight to absorb some Vitamin D.

What part of your wellness routine do you find most difficult to fit into your day? That’s what you want to do in your golden hour of peace and quiet before the chaos erupts! This way, you’re making it easy for yourself to enjoy some much-needed me-time, so you start the day feeling calm, centred and ready to take on anything that comes your way!

EMBRACE IMPERFECTION.

For some of us, not having things just the way we want them can be stressful, but striving for perfection can hold us back. Instead, to help you keep your wellness routine as easy and straightforward as possible, try embracing the fact that you might not get everything done you set out to do every single day.

In her fabulous book, “The Gifts of Imperfection”, Brene Brown talks about what allowing ourselves to be that little bit less than perfect gives us. Compassion, courage, connection with those we love, are all things we get to embrace when we give ourselves a break and, allow ourselves to let things go a little.

“Wholehearted living is about engaging in our lives from a place of worthiness. It means cultivating the courage, compassion and connection to wake up in the morning and think no matter what gets done and how much is left undone I am enough, it’s going to bed at night thinking yes I’m imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid but that does not change that the truth that I am also brave, worthy of love and belonging.”  Brené Brown, PhD.

So give being a little bit imperfect a try! Let something in your wellness routine slip every now and again without giving yourself a hard time. It’s a great way to take the pressure off. Making things a bit easier for yourself will help you start enjoying your practices again if things are becoming a chore.

SIMPLIFY YOUR DAY.

We’ve all got 24 hours in a day, but when we’re chasing our tails, sometimes we can be less than strategic with the way we spend them. So, if we really want to make taking care of ourselves easy, we need to get organised.

Here are some ideas that will help you tame your day, so you can focus on your wellness without struggling to find the time.

BATCH HEALTHY MEALS.

Take a few hours to plan out healthy, nutritious meals for the week ahead and do your food shopping online, using local suppliers if you can. Save yourself even more time by cooking up a storm on a Sunday, so you’ve got all your meals prepped and ready for the week ahead.

PLAN IT OUT.

Take 10 minutes at the end of your day to run organise everything you need to do the next day. Get a clear plan in your head of when you’re going to do things so you can use your time wisely. Don’t over commit, and make sure to include the elements of your wellness routine as non negotiable, top priority that can’t be cancelled.

LEARN TO SAY NO.

If nothing else, learn to say no! You can’t be all things to everyone. We all only have the same 24 hours a day. So, if you’re asked for something you don’t have time for, acknowledge their request, and say no, or not just yet. It works miracles and, after a bit of practice, saying no can feel as great as saying yes!

CLEAR YOUR CLUTTER.

A sure-fire way to make your wellbeing routine feel more of a chore than a treat is to have everything you need all over the place! So to make your self-care feel effortless, it’s time for a declutter.

Is there a favourite chair you can sit in while you journal or meditate? Ensure the space around it is clear and that you have everything you need like pens, paper and cosy blankets to hand.

Create a little sanctuary in your bedroom for yoga, a special place in your bathroom for all your lotions and potions and clear a cupboard in your kitchen for your teas and powders. Then burn essential oils to clear the energy, keep the space sacred and your wellness routine effortless.

MAKE IT EASY ON YOURSELF.

Everything we’ve shared so far has been to help you embrace self-care without the effort. Your wellness routine should never feel stressful or overwhelming, so here are a few more tips to help keep things simple.

MAKE IT SECOND NATURE.

Build your wellness routine into your day. Go out for a walk at the same time every day. Stick more or less to the same mealtimes, so things flow more easily. It’s much easier when you build wellness into a routine you’ve already got established and your circadian rhythm will love you for it. It’s why children love a routine so much.

LET OTHERS KNOW.

Tell people what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. Let your family know that your meditation space is sacred to you, that your teas are special, and your walks alone are non-negotiable. This will make it easier for you to stick to.

MAKE YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE.

Find yourself a wellness buddy. Go to classes together, remotely or in person, share your achievements and your challenges. It’s better (and easier) together!

MAKE IT FUN.

There are so many people telling us what we should be doing, but don’t do it unless you enjoy it. Let your wellness routine make you feel happy. What feels effort-free? Do that! If you truly hate running, don’t associate exercise with running. Find something you truly love and just do that, it could be yoga or swimming. Whatever it is, find your ‘thing’ and throw yourself into it.

Whilst also remembering, most people don’t like what they aren’t good at. And you don’t get better at something you don’t practice often because you don’t enjoy it. So the perpetual circle continues. If you want to get good at something, you must be prepared to be rubbish at it when you start. Find the joy in developing a skill…as long as it’s fun.

SELF-CARE WITHOUT THE EFFORT.

So you’ve eaten healthily, journaled, meditated, kept hydrated, embraced your imperfections and become an all-round wellness wonder woman or superman, it seems like without even trying. It’s amazing what happens when you let things be easy. You really can enjoy self-care without all the effort when you create an environment that supports you.
